KILIMS AS CONTROLLERS

Since 2021, I have been developing handwoven kilims as tactile interfaces for sound, light and image. Conductive fibres, touch sensitive areas and other sensing technologies are integrated into the textiles, allowing touch and physical interaction to control digital media.

The function of each kilim is not necessarily fixed. I often repurpose the same woven interface for different media, changing its mapping and behaviour rather than producing a new textile for each application. Some of these experiments become finished works, while others remain prototypes.
